Hi my name is Jessica but most people call me Jessy. I am 15 years old and love acting, art, volleyball, gymnastics, cheerleading and music. I was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 14 when I was having constant back pain for a couple of months. One day it got so bad that I was in the middle of a store and felt like I was going to throw up. My mom took me to a chiropractor and he referred me to get an X-ray where they diagnosed me with scoliosis. I was diagnosed too late for bracing, so we just had to wait it out and see how my curve was getting. Ive had lots of X-rays and been to lots of physiotherapy and now I’m at the point where I may need surgery at some point but there is still hope that I won’t. I am really excited to help others through their journey and for them to help me!

I am so excited to be a group leader! It kind of felt like fate when I went in for my first orthopedic appointment there was a poster for Curvy Girls. The leader was 14 years old and named Jessica so it felt like I was meant to be in it. I later looked into it with my mom and the NS chapter had closed so I decided I wanted to be a leader. I am so fortunate that I found Curvy Girls. Helping people is one of my favourite things and I know how hard it can be. It can have a big effect on your mental health and I want to help people feel confident and good about themselves and I want them to be able to take this experience and help others as well.
